Why do I need a website for my business in 2021?

"My business is already successful enough, why do I still need a website?"

"I could just use a Facebook business page for free, why do I need to invest into a website?"

"I want to take my business to the next level and increase sales, what can I do?"

To answer questions like the ones above, I am going to explain to you why a website is crucial for business in 2021, especially in the amid of pandemic. 

Below are some reasons why a website is important for businesses, enjoy.

Credibility

By having a website for your business, you can immediately make your business appear credible and professional. "How so?", you may ask.

Consumers nowadays will trust a business with a website more compared to a similar business without a website. According to a study, 84% of consumers today believe a business with a website is more credible than one that only has a social media page.

This is because everyone, even your 10-year-old kid can create a social media page, but to create a website needs certain expertise and knowledge. Thus, having a business website means the business owner is invested and committed to his/her business. 

Having a website also means you can have your very own business email. Business email is an email address that uses your own business domain name. For example, my business email is [email protected].

Imagine two similar businesses, one having an email address such as [email protected], another one is [email protected], which business, or in this case, barbershop looks more professional?

The answer is the second one. The first email address gives it a very homemade vibe and might appear amateur. The second email address gives the impression that the business is well-established and has its very own website, thus making it look more professional.

Online Presence

With a website, you have a chance to appear on Google search results. This will lead to organic traffic to your website and allow more people to discover your business.

More and more people are using the internet to find new businesses to connect with and to make buying decisions. Over 40,000 searches are done on Google every single second.

According to Moz, the first page of Google captures 71% of search traffic clicks and has been reported to be as high as 92% in recent years. 

Imagine if a user types in "best interior design company in KL" and your interior design business website appears on the 1st page of Google. Isn't that amazing?

Without a website in this era, your business will be invisible to search engines such as Google and will have zero organic reaches. 

"Well, I already have a Facebook page, I don't think I need a website."

If that is your argument, well, social media such as Facebook is diminishing, especially for business pages. If you wish to rely on social media for organic growth(free and not paid ads), it is getting harder for businesses to connect with their audience organically.

With a website, you have an all-in-one platform to promote your business.

Now, what do I mean by all-in-one?

A website should contain every piece of information about your business to help your customers understand your business better and act as a 24/7 sales-closing tool.

A website also helps you to highlight each product/service of your business, by using high definition images and videos, stellar descriptions, positive customer reviews, and captivating call-to-actions.

Your website is also the first place potential client will visit. You can include frequently asked questions to better help visitors understand your product/service.

The design of your website also helps visitors to understand the tone and direction of your business. 

A business website with a traditional layout may seem professional and experienced, whereas a fun, colorful, and animated business website may look young, approachable, and friendly. 

It all comes down to your personal taste and how you want to present your business to the clients.

If you are using social media's paid advertisement, you could also create a dedicated landing page on your website to act as a sales funnel for your campaign and have them fill up the contact form.

The leads generated through the website's landing page is of higher quality compared to leads generated through social media only.

Increase Sales

When your website has every bit of information about your business, you no longer need to actively answer basic questions about your product/service.

You can have detailed information about your business, product/service on the website so that visitors can browse freely.

Your potential client no longer needs to browse each social media post to obtain information because you will have all that information in one spot, which is your website.

If you are selling physical products, you can also add e-commerce features to your website. By doing so, your customers can browse, select and make payment online.

They no longer need to come to your brick and mortar storefront. Nowadays, more and more businesses are either converting to a completely online business or adding e-commerce as part of their business strategy.

Your Competitors Have a Website

Chances are, you will face competition in whatever business that you do. If your competitors have a website, they are already a step ahead of you. 

Whatever business you are in, you are not alone. Hundreds if not tens of thousands of similar businesses are selling products or services similar to yours. If your competitors have a website, you can have a totally different and well-designed website to make your business stand out.

Furthermore, the top few companies in your line of business will have their own website. To compete with them, you will need a website too for your clients to think you are no different than them, provided that you have good products/services.

Even if you are in a business with zero competitors, you will eventually need a website to grow your business.
